    Latest News/Shows News Transmit Antenna Array (TAA) Radome Production with CAES April 9, 2021 The Meggitt Baltimore team is proud to be selected to design, develop and produce a radome for the Transmit Antenna Array (TAA) program with . Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES) This radome is designed to cover and protect the TAA for ground-mobile electronic warfare application while having extremely low transmission loss. It is a low weight and rugged construction ensure longevity while installed on the platform. The radome offers very low loss over a broad frequency range. New Geodesic Radome Design Program with SynFoam May 6, 2020 Meggitt Baltimore is proud to announce a new design program with ! Meggitt design and manufacturing capabilities integrated with Synfoam’s HTC grade syntactic foam, a structural syntactic foam designed for use in dielectric applications, will be used in the construction of a geodesic radome for the U.S. Army. SynFoam Meggitt will use our extensive radome expertise to design and fabricate a geodesic radome. The radome will be designed and analyzed to withstand environmental extremes while having minimal impact on the performance of the enclosed antenna. Unique HTC foam is low in density ranging from 38 to 55 pcf, provides a tailored dielectric constant and loss tangent, has a high Tg of 180oF, exceptional resistance to water and chemicals, and is impact resistant. The operation has existed since 1965 as various entities, including Nurad, Cobham, and most recently Meggitt. Meggitt has an extensive and successful track record providing high performance antennas and radomes to most major airframe and systems OEMs, with specific and deep experience in Radar, Electronic Warfare, and Communication, Navigation and Identification (CNI) applications. Meggitt is located in Baltimore, MD in a modern 75,000 square foot facility that houses a fully vertically integrated operation including design, engineering, test and production staff and equipment.     For all our radome and antenna products, there are unique electrical test requirements specific to each. As a result, Meggitt develops test procedures accordingly. In some cases, specialized test fixtures and jigs are designed and fabricated in-house. Testing smaller radomes and antennas Testing is conducted in one of Meggitt’s far-field indoor ranges. Each of the four ranges are configured slightly differently to accommodate unique test requirements. One of the ranges has specialized switching that enhances measurement accuracy and minimizes test time for a complex phased array radome and has become recognized as the standard benchmark for the particular product being manufactured and tested. ​ ​ ​ Services > Radome & Antenna Testing ​ Large compact range ​ For certain types of radomes, the compact range enhances our measurement accuracy and provides unparalleled correlation between the measurement results at Meggitt and the installed system performance. Qualities: Quiet zone of 8’ x 8’ x 5.3’ (L x W x H) and is capable of measuring from 2 to 50 GHz RF equipment is based on commercially available network analyzers Configured with a model tower (either fiberglass or steel depending on the unit under test weight requirements) mounted on a linear slide on an azimuth over elevation over slide positioning system System antenna ensures the radome is illuminated as it will be when mounted on the aircraft.
