    Latest News/Shows News New Geodesic Radome Design Program with SynFoam May 6, 2020 Meggitt Baltimore is proud to announce a new design program with ! Meggitt design and manufacturing capabilities integrated with Synfoam’s HTC grade syntactic foam, a structural syntactic foam designed for use in dielectric applications, will be used in the construction of a geodesic radome for the U.S. Army. SynFoam Meggitt will use our extensive radome expertise to design and fabricate a geodesic radome. The radome will be designed and analyzed to withstand environmental extremes while having minimal impact on the performance of the enclosed antenna. Unique HTC foam is low in density ranging from 38 to 55 pcf, provides a tailored dielectric constant and loss tangent, has a high Tg of 180oF, exceptional resistance to water and chemicals, and is impact resistant.     Products > Radomes Meggitt Baltimore specializes in customized radomes for military operations. We have been designing and manufacturing radomes since 1965 and are highly familiar with the environmental requirements for multiple military platforms. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Meggitt Baltimore offers a wide variety of radome solutions. ​ Our radomes are designed to have minimal effect on antenna RF signals while maintaining structural integrity in different environments, such as subsonic and supersonic conditions. ​ We work with custo mer to design the radome and installation mount to ensure ease and quick installation. ​ The overall performance of the radome (and antenna) assembly is optimized by determining the best materials and wall thickness of the radomes as well as the location of the antenna within the radome. ​ The radome construction is designed for specific frequency ranges and the power output of the antenna. This reduces the temperature of the radome by reducing the absorbed power. ​ Electrical testing may be accomplished on the full size ground planes that simulate installation on the actual platform.
